The Union Election Commission (UEC) has removed Daw Thet Thet Khine, the Chairwoman of the People’s Pioneer Party (PPP), from the list of candidates for violating the provisions of Section 8(d) of the Pyithu Hluttaw Election Law.

In response to a query regarding the news that Dr. Thet Thet Khine, who had submitted her nomination to contest in Yangon Region No.2 Amyotha Hluttaw Constituency, which will be held under the first-past-the-post system, had been removed from the list of candidates, the UEC said.

“Dr. Thet Thet Khine, the Chairperson of the People’s Pioneer Party, who had submitted her nomination in Yangon Region No.2 Amyotha Hluttaw Constituency, has been removed from the list of candidates for violating the provisions of Section 8(d) of the Pyithu Hluttaw Election Law. The UEC has announced and carried out the dates for the nomination and scrutiny of Hluttaw candidates, so the time limit for filing an appeal has already passed,” the UEC said.

The UEC has said that out of 5,023 candidates who filed nominations for the parliamentary elections to be held on December 28, 2025, 86 candidates were disqualified for not complying with the Constitution, the Pyithu Hluttaw Election Law, and the rules.
