MYEIK------Over 10,000 members of United Democratic Party (UDP) from Boakpyin Township, Taninthari Region, will show support of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), says Tin Kyaw Khaing, the now dissolved UDP’s candidate.
Over 10,000 UDP members including four UDP candidates are going to participate in the canvassing campaigns of the USDP.
Currently, UDP has issued no instructions to its members.
“All UDP members had decided to support the USDP. It is our own decision. Over 10,000 UDP members including the activists in Boakpyin Township will show support of USDP during the election campaign period. There is no instruction from our party. All political parties are now doing the development tasks for the nation. Among them, we like the USDP because its efforts were the best for the public. So, we support them. Currently, we don’t register as a member of USDP. We are striving to establish the UDP in future,” said Tin Kyaw Khaing, ex-candidate of UDP in Boakpyin Township.
“We are now monitoring the current affairs after observing the situation of our boss. UDP’s chairman instructed us not to control the offering of other parties. But, he urged us not to register with another party member. It means that he agreed to show support for another party. Moreover, he urged us not to do “No vote”,” said Khin Maung Latt, UDP’s chairman from Taninthari Region.
At present, UDP’s boss Kyaw Myint is under arrest and his party has already been removed from official political party status.
However, UDP sign boards are still being erected in the rural areas. As for the members, they will be carrying out their party movements if the party will be allowed to form again later.
