A bomb exploded near Sagaing Region Agriculture Department in Monywa on the morning of October 24, killing two young children and wounding another, according to local sources.

It was a bit powerful explosion, and no one has claimed responsibility. The nursing school and some parts of the agriculture department’s fence were damaged.

“The blast occurred at about 8am. There were some children collecting garbage. Two young children died and another young child was injured. Parts of nearby buildings were damaged,” said a resident in Monywa.

At about the same time, shots were fired at the security forces shouldering duties at Monywa City Hall.
