Two ships carrying more than 12,000 metric tons of palm oil imported from companies have arrived at two ports in Yangon, according to the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association (MEODA).

The two ships arrived at Wilmar Myanmar International Port and Htee Tan Port in Kyeemyindai Township in Yangon on the morning and evening of January 21.

The ship that arrived at Wilmar Myanmar International Port is the Hong Boss S, carrying 8,850 metric tons of palm oil imported from 12 companies.

The ship that arrived at Htee Tan Port is the TTC Pioner, carrying 3,575 metric tons of palm oil imported from two companies.

“All palm oil has been loaded into the oil tanks,” said an official from the MEODA.

The oil spills from these ships were inspected by the Oil Tank Supervision Working Group of the MEODA, district head and members of the Yangon Region Consumer Affairs Department, and officials from the Edible Oil Quality Inspection and Supervision Team.

The conditions of transferring palm oil from ships to the oil storage tank, the quality of edible oil, the accuracy of the edible oil import tons, and the systematic distribution of oil from the oil tanks and the prevention of weight loss were also inspected.

In order to ensure that edible oil is consumed in accordance with the health of the people, the Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association, the Oil Tank Supervision Working Group, the Yangon Region Consumer Affairs Department, and the Edible Oil Quality Inspection and Supervision Team, are conducting regular field inspections to ensure that oil import, storage, and distribution processes, oil tank safety, fire safety, and preventive measures are in place, to ensure that oil quality and shelf life do not decrease, and to ensure that oil tank employees are safe from occupational hazards, according to the MEODA.
