Two fishing vessels sank at sea, kills eight

Two fishing vessels sank in the sea near Thongwa Township, causing eight people to die on May 26, according to Yangon Region police force.

The bodies were sent to Thongwa hospital.

Two survivors said that they were fishing about six nautical miles away from Milaung Chaungwa beach in the township with two fishing vessels. A whirlwind occurred while they are sleeping and water entered into the vessels as the wind capsized the vessels.

They said they clung into the arched roof of the vessel and they asked help from nearby fishing vessels. Other vessels towed the two capsized vessels to the beach.

Police are making further investigations into the accident.
