Two foreign companies have been selected for electricity and gas sectors in implementing infrastructure projects for new Yangon City Project phase-1 (stage-2), said New Yangon Development Company (NYDC) CEO Thein Wai.

PTT Group from Thailand was chosen for power supply and distribution while IGL Consortium from India was selected for natural gas supply and distribution.

To start NYDC challenge tasks, NYDC announced and invited expression of interest for power supply and distribution, natural gas supply and distribution, cyber connectivity, public transport, waste management and convention center on February 11, 2019. It then received 77 proposals for EOI from 45 companies and organizations.

"With the aim of choosing the most suitable and qualified companies in a fair and transparent manner, NYDC agreed to strategically cooperate with Enterprise Singapore under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, Monetary Authority of Singapore under the Ministry of Finance and Infrastructure Asia (IA) established to support funding and infrastructure in the region in technological aid sector. NYDC and IA collaborated in technology and data sharing in evaluating the project, adopting procedures and discussing with the companies that submitted EOI proposals," said Thein Wai.

The choice of those three companies came after taking systematic measures such as plenary discussions, holistic assessment, technical experience, technical capacity, financial capacity based on graded system.
