Yangon—As a measure to prevent the spreading of COVID-19, all civil servants are banned from travelling to their home towns during the Thingyan Holidays, apart from funeral, according to a directive issued by the President Office.

The move is aimed at avoiding the infections of COVID-19 through close contacts with other persons, families members and relatives, who are infected with virus, on their ways to home.

The civil servants who have caught the virus can cause the transmission among other staff when they return to their offices after the Thingyan Holidays. It may lead to the suspension of office works at the ministries and departments.

The government will arrange alternative holidays for civil servants when the situation returns to normalcy.

Now, the number of confirmed patients has reached 21 and one patient died.
