Tourists’ arrival increases in 2018

Over 2.84 million tourists visited Myanmar till at the end of October 2018 and the number of tourists’ arrival in that period is increased a little more than one per cent of the tourists’ arrival in the same period last year, according to Ministry of Hotel and Tourism.

Among them, over one million tourists visited Myanmar through airports and over 7,000 visitors came with cruise liners. More than 35,000 tourists entered Myanmar through border gates. Over 1.7 million travellers visited border areas.

Although number of tourists’ arrival from Europe and North America countries in recent years, more travellers from China, Thailand and some Asian countries are visited Myanmar. According to the statistics, the numbers of tourists’ arrival from countries are as per following: 58,280 tourists from North America, 8,490 tourists from other countries from North and South America, 138,545 visitors from western Europe, 13,160 visitors from eastern Europe, 3,509 visitors from Africa, 4,317 visitors from middle-east countries, 834,712 tourists from Asia and 24,259 visitors from Oceania areas.

The highest numbers of tourists’ arrival till October 2018 with visas are as per following: 236,441 tourists from Thailand, 227,048 tourists from China, 82,327 tourists from Japan, 53,693 tourists from South Korea, 49,750 tourists from the United States, 44,840 tourists from Singapore, 43,842 tourists from Vietnam, 37,231 tourists from Malaysia, 35,412 tourists from India, 32,597 tourists from France and 29,291 tourists from United Kingdom.
