Torrential rain causes over 500 flood victims in Ngaputaw

PATHEIN-----As torrential rain poured down along Pathein-Mawtin motor road in Ayeyawady Region in the morning of August 3rd as well as rain water coming down from Ngayokkaung mountain in Ngaputaw Township caused by heavy rain,  500 houses have been flooded and transport cut off, according to the sources.

Currently, Pathein-Mawtin motor road near Tinchaung village is being flooded. That’ why, dozens of vehicles were stuck due to flash flood and rising water level reached to 4-ft high and then some houses beside Pathein-Mawtin motor road were destroyed due to mountain torrent which caused over 500 people fleeing to safer places. 

“As there has been mountain torrent and tidal water, all houses from four wards in Ngayokkaung Township are being flooded. In some wards, the water level reached to over 4-ft high. We planned to evacuate the peoples from their flooded-hit homes to the safer places so also we helped the trapped peoples,” said Administrator Kyaw Myint Tun from Tinchaung village, Ngayokkaung Township.

Due to transportation cut off, emergency aids are being needed for the flood victims and the rescue teams also face difficulties for providing aids to the victims.
