Three masked men rob a gold shop in Tachileik

YANGON-Three masked men armed with swords robbed a gold shop near Arkha Market in Tachileik Township getting away with gold-made items worth over Ks 2.2 million, according to the Tachileik Police Station.

On 9 October afternoon, when there was only one staff member on duty, three masked men barged in Htar Htar Lwin, the gold shop,according to the police.

“Three masked men entered Htar Htar Lwin gold shop with two motorbikes when there was only one female staff on duty. They had swords and robbed the store. Gold items weighing nearly two tickles and valued at over Ks 2.2 million were stolen. There is CCTV record and so we’re conducting investigations based on it,” said Police Superintendent Hla Oo.

Due to increasing amounts of robberies in Tachileik, particularly to gold shops, the police force had urged increased security measures. It is the fourth time armed robbery cases in Tachileik Township in recent months.
