Kachin State government is working to carry out thermal screening at three border gates in Kachin-China border in order to contain Wuhan virus.  

“Officials conducted the field work for thermal screening at Kanpiketi, Lwegel and Panwar border gates on January 2, said Kachin State Minister for Social Affairs U Nay Win. 

Three official border gates are located in Kachin State. Around 5000 Chinese citizens are working in Kachin State, said Kachin State Minister for Immigration and Human Resources U Zaw Win. 

Now almost all Chinese citizens working in culture-tissue banana plantations in Kachin State went home to mark the Chinese New Year Festival. They will return to Myanmar at the end of January.They are working in Chinese tissue culture  bananas plantations in Kachin State. 

The Chinese New Year holiday is from January 24 to 26. Kanpiketi border camp sees low inflow and outflow of people. Normally, the camp sees hundreds of trucks loaded with Chinese tissue culture  bananas. Since the end of January, the camp may see the hustle and bustle of trucks, said a staff from the border camp. 

Likewise, health staff started carrying out thermal screening on Chinese citizens and third country citizens on Nos.1 and 3 Myawady-Mae Sot Friendship Bridges in Myanmar-Thai border on January 26. 

Now, hundreds of Chinese citizens are entering Shwe Kokko New City Project in Myawady every day.  

No suspect case is detected in Myawady so far, a nurse said.
