The 2024 Taunggyi Tazaungdaing Hot-Air Balloon Festival kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony last night. 

The event is being hosted at the Ahwaiya hot-air balloon ground in Taunggyi Township, southern Shan State, and will run from November 11 to 17.

The festival features a dazzling array of hot-air balloons, including designs inspired by animals such as chickens, doves, ducks, birds, elephants, and pigs. 

Over the course of the week, 50 Nya Mee Kyi and Sein Na Pan hot-air balloons, alongside 147 daytime balloons, will take to the skies.

In addition to the spectacular balloon launches, traditional activities such as weaving non-stale robes to offer to Buddha and a mesmerizing lighting procession will add a cultural touch to the celebrations.

 The festival has drawn enthusiastic participation from locals, showcasing the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of Taunggyi.
