The Tatmadaw is extremely patient even though the military parade of the “Wa” amounts to building a parallel government and a parallel “Tatmadaw”, said Major General Soe Naing Oo, the Chair of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team, at a press conference on the Tatmadaw’s public welfare services and local peace in Nay Pyi Taw on June 2.

The Daily Eleven raised the question whether the Tatmadaw has been invited to attend the 30th anniversary of Mongla group and whether senior military officials will attend the event if invited.

Maj-Gen Soe Naing Oo said: “The leader of the “Mongla” armed group himself will invite the Tatmadaw to attend the ceremony. The Tatmadaw will decide whether or not we will attend it based on their undertakings. Recently, the “Wa” group conducted the military parade using the arms. It is found that this military parade amounts to building a parallel government and a parallel Tatmadaw. So the Tatmadaw did not attend that ceremony.”

When asked by a reporter from the Irrawaddy about the Tatmadaw’s silence on the military parade by the “Wa”, Major General Soe Naing Oo replied that we are not silent about it. The Tatmadaw did not attend it. The point is that we feel extremely patient with some matters as we want peace.
