Students unwilling to take university exam due to COVID-19 may re-sit in May or June

The Ministry of Education issued a statement on March 18 saying that the students who don’t want to take examination due to COVID-19 will be allowed to re-sit in May or June, and the reopening date of universities will be announced. 

“It’s true the statement about this has been issued,” said Higher Education Department Director-General Dr Thein Win. 

The statement cited the Ministry of Health and Sports as saying that as COVID-19 is a pandemic that an outbreak at any place in any season, all occasions involving large gatherings should be avoided. 

According to a series of news released by the ministry, Myanmar has yet to find any COVID-19 confirmed case till March 17. So, according to the wishes of the majority of students, university, college and degree college examinations will take place on March 31 as scheduled. 

However, for those who don’t want to take exams due to COVID-19, arrangements will be made for them to sit in May or June. 

Moreover, depending on the COVID-19 situation, the re-opening date of universities will be announced, the statement says.
