Strong wind destroys more than 300 houses in Namtsan

Strong winds in Namtsan, Lweilin district, southern Shan State, destroyed more than 300 houses in 10 village tracts on May 2.

“Trees were uprooted and warehouses were destroyed. More than half of No-9 village was destroyed by the wind. According to the data collected, over 340 houses were destroyed but the estimated price of destruction wasn’t calculated yet. There are 5 wards in Namtsan and no-5 ward is the hardest hit. Village administrators are still collecting  data. No-9 village and Naung Bo Mee Gawrakhar villages were 85 percent destroyed.  The roof top of Palaung Parahita School was destroyed. Chief Minister will visit the strong wind hit area and assistance will be provided,” said towns ‘elder Nay Zaw Naing.

Some wards in Namtsan and most of the villages were hit by strong wind on May 2 evening. About 340 houses were totally destroyed while rooftops of 327 houses were overturned and 13 houses collapsed. The military commander of the region also visited the strong wind hit area.
