State Peace Talk Team discuss convening of a peace conference with delegates from UWSP, NDAA, SSPP

Peace talks took place between the State Peace Talks Team (SPTT) and delegations from the United Wa State Party (UWSP), National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), and Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) in Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of July 20 according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information.

Present on the occasion were Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, member of the State Administration Council and Union Minister for Union Government Office and Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), SAC Member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein and members, UWSP Vice-Chair U Lou Yaku, NDAA Vice-Chair U San Pae, and SSPP Vice-Chair (3) Sao Sae Paing Pha.

Peace talk team leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and on behalf of delegation groups, UWSP Vice-Chair U Lou Yaku delivered addresses.

The discussions primarily focused on the implementation of previously agreed-upon points, the convening of a peace conference, local development activities, and issues to be addressed by ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) among others before concluding the first-day. The second day of the talks will be held today.
