State Counsellor, Deputy Military Chief meet UNSG’s Special Envoy separately

NAYPYITAW- State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win separately met United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar, Christine Schraner Burgener, at their offices in Nay Pyi Taw on July 15th, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

The MOFA announced that the UNSG’s special envoy shared her experiences of her visit to Rakhine State as well as she explained about ongoing plans to submit a report to the UN General Assembly concerning Myanmar.

During the meeting with the State Counsellor, both sides exchanged views on launch of the repatriation process, social cohesion among the different communities in Rakhine State, providing of basic needs such as education and health sectors, improving of ground situation including ensuring security and freedom of movement, according to the MOFA.

Moreover, Vice-Senior Soe Win met with the UNSG’s special envoy on Myanmar at Bayintnaung Guest House in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning of July 15th.

At the meeting, the military discussed sending military men to the flooded areas aiming to provide rescue and aids activities to the victims.

Moreover, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief said that the rebels from Arakan Army disturbed the peace and tranquility in Rakhine State and the army carried out the regional security tasks in accordance with the law.

The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services’ office announced that the army carried out the matters related to preventing the recruitment of child soldiers joining hand with the Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR), repatriation processes and allowing the humanitarian organizations to conflict regions.
