The Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) decided that the government-led peace process was welcomed and supported and political problems would be politically solved as a group, spokesperson Colonel Sai Hsu of the SSPP said at the plenary meeting of the central committee of the SSPP.

The plenary meeting of the central committee of the SSPP was held in Wan Hai, the headquarters of the SSPP from December 31 to January 8. A total of 46 people including the patron, CEC members, auxiliary CEC members, people worthy of attending and observers attended the plenary meeting.

The plenary meeting focused on strong and weak points in the implementations of the tasks carried out during 2018, the SSPP reported on January 8.

The tasks performed during 2018 were reviewed at the plenary meeting. Especially, political and military reforms, matters relating to administration and regional developments were also reassessed, spokesperson Colonel Sai Hsu said.

We made those having weak points submit letters of explanations to the superiors. We had to fire and take actions against some members. Future plans were laid down. Our objectives were re-set down, said Colonel Sai Hsu.

The SSPP will continue carrying out the tasks as to education, health, agriculture, irrigation, transport and region with added momentum. The SSPP will continue taking preventive measures against narcotic drugs, a serious danger to the health of the entire people.

The SSPP signed the state-level and Union-level NCA in Taunggyi on January 28 in 2012. It welcomed and supported the peace process led by the government. Political problems would be politically solved as a group. The SSPP in collaboration with the armed ethnic organizations would try to achieve success in the peace process, according to the SSPP.
