SITTWAY-As commodities flow was already lacking in Sittway Township, Rakhine State, the dwellers worried about commodities shortages. The issue has been submitted to the Union Government for coordination with the state government.

The information came from Win Myint, Municipal Affairs Minister of the Rakhine State Government Committee.

The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has risen in Rakhine State. Therefore, commodities flow had been banned in the state.

Due to restriction of vehicles, arrival of commodities has been delayed yet. Some townships have worried about commodities shortages in their regions.

“We submitted the issue concerning commodities delay to the Union Government. Mainly, there will be smooth commodities flow. Now, plans are underway to allow the trucks carrying commodities. Moreover, we are now discussing commodity flows with the relevant states and regions,” said Win Myint.

Currently, authorities carried out fever screening activities to passengers coming to Rakhine State from other regions.

Most townships including Sittway in Rakhine State are now depending on commodities from other states and regions. If there is a commodities shortage, the difficulties may occur in Rakhine State.

The Municipal Affairs Minister said that the government would provide Ks 20,000 each to ordinary households in Sittway Township after spending Ks 580 million during the Stay at Home program.
