A shuttle boat docked at Mayanchan port in Mandalay caught fire on December 26 due to an overheated kettle and six people including a university student and vessel owner were injured, according to Mandalay district fire services department.

A total of 25 fire engines, five water bowsers, three administrative vehicles, 50 firefighters and 100 auxiliary firefighters are put out the fire and it is classified as level 2. The fire was finally put out around 11:30 am. The injured people were sent to Mandalay General Hospital.

The police lodged a complaint against the boat owner under Section 285 and 337 of the Penal Code at Patheingyi Township police station.
