Shootings occurred on Bayintnaung Bridge (No.2) in Hlinethaya Township, Yangon, on the morning of August 22.

Nearby residents said a gunfight broke out at the security post on the bridge in Hlinethaya at about 8.30 am.

“Gun firing occurred at the security post up the bridge to Hlinethaya. We heard gunfire. Then, the bridge was closed,” a nearby resident said.

A policeman was killed in the incident, and the bridge was reopened in the afternoon.
