In the vicinity of Battalion 507 in Lashio, northern Shan State, shootings are taking place, and due to clashes on the outskirts of the town, residents say that displaced people are unable to move.

Since the early morning of July 7, clashes have been occurring near Battalion 507 in Lashio.

"Today, we heard a lot of gunfire near Battalion 507 in Ward 5. To put it plainly, we heard the sounds of heavy and small weapons nearly all day," said a resident of Lashio.

On July 7, those preparing to leave Lashio found out that they couldn't get out of town because of the fighting on the outskirts.

"Since early this morning, people who were going to go out couldn’t leave. They were shooting on the outskirts of town. Some people who couldn't get out returned home, while others were waiting on the road for a chance to leave," said a Lashio resident on the evening of July 7.

Most residents of Lashio are planning to leave the town, and it was observed that there were many cars lined up on July 7, according to a local resident.

"There are a lot of cars today, but they can't get out," said a Lashio resident.

In the past few days, at least 10 people have died due to rocket explosions in some areas of Lashio, according to residents.

Due to the clashes near Lashio, residents have started relocating to other regions about three days ago.

During this relocation, residents have been moving with white flags on their vehicles, according to Lashio locals.

As many residents are leaving Lashio for other towns, hundreds of vehicles are waiting to cross the creek at the Sintin jetty on the Lashio-Mandalay Union Highway.
