Ship carrying 82-feet long railroad tracks from Japan to upgrade Yangon-Mandalay railroad is docked at Sule Port on August 17, according to the Myanma Railways (MR).

The railroad tracks were unloaded from the ship to the port on August 18.

The MR is using six new train carriages bought under the loan from South Korea in Yangon-Mandalay railroad.

The MR bought 100 new train carriages bought under the loan from South Korea and 28 new train carriages bought under the loan from China with zero interest rate and they all will be received in this year.

“Four carriages are in No.5/6 upstream and downstream Yangon-Mandalay train from July 9 and two are in No.71 upstream train from July 19,” said an official.

A total of 40 Out of 100 new train carriages, which will cost US$45 million, will be built in South Korea and the rest will be built in Myitnge. 20 out of 40 new train carriages from South Korea were already arrived in Myanmar since 2019.
