TAUNGGYI- The Shan State Government has requested the public to not travel and to close hotels and restaurants starting from April 7th to April 15th, according to the Shan State Government Committee.
The request was issued yesterday and also distributed to the relevant township authorities. Moreover, the request will be put on the signboards in Taunggyi Township.
“There will be local transmission concerning COVID-19 outbreak. For example, four family members of the 15th COVID-19 patient including two children had tested positive for the virus in Paukkaung Township. The request is aimed at avoiding the infections of COVID-19 through close contacts with other persons, family members and relatives. Moreover, we aim to reduce public gatherings during the Thingyan period aiming to preventive measures against the COVID-19 virus. So, we submitted the request to the National level Central Committee which allowed us. So, we distributed the request to the Self-administered Zones in Shan State. Currently, there is no positive COVID-19 patient in Taunggyi Township. We have no plan to made into lockdown in the whole of Taunggyi Township,” said Dr Myo Tun, Social Affairs Minister of Shan State Government Committee.
The request aims for the public to reduce the traveling amid COVID-19 transmission, to carry out commodities flows, to close hotel and guest houses and not to travel to the public crowded places.
