Seven Bengalis and Human traffickers arrested in Ayeyawady

PATHEIN-----Seven Bengalis attempting to illegally go to Yangon Region from Rakhine State and five Arakan human traffickers were arrested in Chaungtha Township, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region at midnight yesterday.

The Arakan human broker asked a Bengali who wanted to go to Yangon Region for transportation charges Ks 2.5 million.

“According to the tip, we carried out security measures downtown and outskirt two days ago. Around 1am of January 4th, we received the information reported that a boat carrying illegal Bengalis from Sittwe Township, Rakhine State arrived at a beach in Chaungtha Township. That’s why we arrested them. There were a total of 12 people including boat drivers and human traffickers. We took to Chaungtha Township where we joined the medical team and took to the regional police station by ambulance. We are going to carry out medical checkups for illegal Bengalis. Those human traffickers must be taken action against. The illegal Bengalis are kept under Quarantine in Basic Education High School,” said Kyaw Thu,an Administrator of Chaungtha Township.
