Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing reiterates that SAC did not stage military coup

Chairman of State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing said State Administration Council (SAC) did not stage military coup but acted according to national constitution.

He said these words at the SAC meeting 6/2022 on July 21.

In his speech, Senior-General said that SAC did not stage military coup but acted according to national constitution. He said they are acting on the existing laws in accordance with national constitution on administration, judicial and legislation sectors. After February 3, riots started and violence broke out. They handled violence in accordance with security, administration and cooperation sectors. As a result, the violence was remarkably declined at the moment. The terror acts were taken action under the law. The Ministry of Home Affairs is taking responsibility for State defense duty and armed insurrection. As the country is a democracy country, military administration is exercised at a minimum as much as possible. Apart from some regions, riots and violence were solved by police force. 

Moreover, PDF formed by NUG and CRPH, carried out atrocities and killed monks, nuns, administrative officials, security members and their family members, and public, he added.

He continued in saying that 87 percent of Myanmar’s population is Buddhists. Up to July 20, altogether 52 monks, one nun were killed, 9 were injured and 8 were missing, totaling 70. In Sagaing Region, monks and nuns were killed most. Sagaing Region is the place where most of the Buddhists reside but it was also the place where majority of the monks and nuns were killed. Magway Region also shared the same fate, he added.

In education sector, 47 people from education sector were killed, 21 were injured and 25 were missing. Most of them were from Magway and Sagaing Region, Senior-General added.
