Secretary-General of Asean visits Taungpyo Letwei

Secretary-General of Asean Mr. Lim Jock Hoi and party visited reception centers in Taungpyo Letwei on December 17 morning.

They arrived at Taungpyo Letwei via helicopters. Later, they went to Myanmar-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge and inspected measures taken at Taungpyo Letwei reception camp.

Officials then explained about process for re-accepting those that fled Myanmar, immigration procedures, checking household lists, issuing of NV cards, health to provide, and other assistances.

Secretary-General of Asean Mr. Lim Jock Hoi and party afterwards visited places where repats from Bangladesh were supposed to stay. They left Taungpyo Letwei at 11:00 am.

Together with Mr. Lim Jock Hoi were deputy minister for Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Soe Aung and Rakhine State Minister for Social Affairs Dr. Chan Thar. They visited reception camps in Taungpyo Letwei and Nga Khyya and Hla Phoe Khaung camps.

For re-accepting those that fled Myanmar, UN, international organizations and Asean coordinating center for Humanitarian assistance on disaster management-AHA Center are working together.
