Scrutiny for Myanmar Academy Awards 2018 that started in the second week of this month will take about three months, said Aye Kyu Lay, secretary of the Academy award scrutiny board.

A total of 83 films were shown this year and board members have to watch all the films for assessment. And then, shortlisted quality movies require second viewing and scrutiny.

"We will have to take at least three months to scrutinize those films. There are a total of 83. In the first stage, we will watch all the movies. We will choose quality ones for the second stage. In that stage, we need to conduct detailed scrutiny and give marks. We will go step by step and we have made lists," said Aye Kyu Lay.

The Academy award scrutiny board was formed in early December and assessment began in the second week. About two movies come under scrutiny daily. Myanmar Academy Award ceremony for 2018 is se to take place in March next year.
