SAC implements peace and tranquility for Myanmar: Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun

NAYPYITAW----Among ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus, peace and tranquility which is an important requirement for Myanmar is being implemented, according to Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Deputy Minister of Information who is also a chief of the Tatmadaw True News Information Team of the State Administration Council.

“In accordance with ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus, we are now implementing peace and tranquility which is the most importantly needed in Myanmar. We surprised the international countries trying to accuse us of not implementing peace and tranquility,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

He also said that concerning the peace process, the Tatmadaw[military] carried out negotiation and discussion which were never been implemented  in Myanmar’s peace history. Military already announced the four-year long ceasefire starting from December of 2018 to the end of 2022.

“The Chairman of State Administration Council had invited all ethnic armed groups to attend Diamond Jubilee Union Day aiming to discuss the peace process without keeping advance restrictions. So, seven ethnic armed groups which had signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and four non-NCA signatories attended the diamond jubilee Union Day. Moreover, the attendance armed groups frankly discussed about the ongoing peace processes,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.

He also said that the military opened the door for the peace activities. Later, they invited the remaining ethnic armed groups which didn’t attend the peace talk aiming to discuss about the peace process. While building the Democracy and Federal Union, they are going to implement the way which will seek the solution of negotiation in accordance with the Democracy Practice.
