Rescue operation underway in Shwe Ku as the Ayeyawaddy River water level rises to danger level

Rescue works are being carried out in Shwe Ku as the Ayeyawaddy River water level reached a dangerous water level on September 29 morning. In the evening, it reached 933 cm over the danger water level of 930 cm .

Red Cross members and the administrative office implemented evacuation of locals.

“The danger water level has now stopped and I think it will decrease later but plantations are flooded,” said Maung Maung Swe, an officer from MHD of Shwe Ku.

About 320 locals from 51 households from Pauk Kone, Khun Thar, Alei Kone, Min Kyaung Kone, Maingkar, Letpandan, Hantan, Nyaung Bin, Nyat Pyaw Taw, Kyun Gyi, Thiri,Parpaung wards in Bamaw are sheltering at the monasteries, church buildings, and their relatives.
