A proposal to participate in the signing of International Anti-corruption Academy (IACA) was submitted to Union Parliament.

San Win, Secretary of Myanmar Anti-corruption Commission, clarified matters relating to the participation in the signing of the International Anti-corruption Academy (IACA) at the regular session of Union Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw on July 24.

The establishment of the International Anti-corruption Academy (IACA) was launched in Vienna, Austria on September 2 in 2010. 74 countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh, China and India and 4 organisations signed the IACA, said San Win.

Myanmar will sign the IACA, but Article 19 of the agreement is exception. According to the Article 18 of the agreement, the letter of agreement to be member of the IACA must be sent. Myanmar will be a member when 60 days are up, said San Win.

When Myanmar becomes a member of the IACA, knowledge and work procedures as to anti-corruption can be acquired and that widen the scope of ours. Those working for the commission can be sent to short course and post-graduate courses organized by the IACA. International benchmarks, experiences and practices can be attained. Opportunities can be got to study anti-corruption as a subject. Anti-corruption activities can be carried out in an effective manner. To cooperate with other member countries in accord with the international rules and regulations can bring about benefits, San Win added.
