Plans are underway to sell cooking oil at fair price to consumers

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein urged the relevant authorities to supervise directly selling cooking oil at the affordable prices to the consumers and measures must be taken actions against those being found overcharging the sale of edible oil in accordance with the Essential Supplies and Service Acts.

A work coordination meeting (7/2023) was held at the office of Yangon Region Government Committee on September 11 and it was attended by the Yangon Region Chief Minister and regional level departmental officials.

The official from the Yangon Region Administrative Department explained about boosting the state’s economy with added-momentum, the guidance of the Chairman of and State Administration Council and the decision of the work coordination meeting (6/2023) held in August 10.

The Yangon Region Chief Minister instructed the necessary to meet the target of agricultural goal, sufficiency of water from the irrigated system, actions against those who committed destructive acts and aired the rumors and steering the high volatility in edible oil prices.

If those edible oil retailers and wholesalers are found overcharging, storing inventory intentionally and attempting unscrupulous action to manipulate the market, they will face legal actions under the Essential Supplies and Service Act, says the Yangon Region Chief Minister.
