Patronage member of the YMBA for Paung Township shot dead

A member of the Patronage of the Young Men’s Buddhist Association (YMBA) from Paung Township, Mon State was shot dead on the morning of October 7, according to locals.

Khin Maung Oo was found dead with eight gunshot wounds and an open head injury near the crematorium in Swe Taw Cemetery in Moenaing Ward, Paung, according to locals.

"I heard eight gunshots from Swe Taw Cemetery at around 7 am. It was not come from the pistol. When I went to see it, I saw Khin Maung Oo was dead near the crematorium,” said a local.

After the incident, security forces and officials arrived and conducted a search.

Khin Maung Oo was made a living as gardening and livestock farming near Swe Taw Cemetery in Moenaing Ward. He has been a writer for some time and is a member of the Patron of the YMBA for Paung Township, which was formed in 2020, according to locals.
