Of those fleeing to Bangladesh, 624 Bengalis who returned to Myanmar of their own accord have been accepted after scrutiny, according to Maungdaw District General Administration Department.
"Twenty six Bengalis returned to Ngakhuya on January 29. So, the total is over 600 now," said District Commissioner Soe Aung. Ngakhuya Camp accepted 26 Bengalis in nine households on January 26 as they returned to Rakhine State of their own volition. Some Bengalis from Bangladesh are coming back as they wish and they are being accepted under Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development (UEHRD) programme.
