TAUNGGYI- Due to flash Shan battles, over 500 displaced people had fled to safer places in Kyethi Township, causing two refugee camps in Kyethi Township, southern Shan State to open, according to the sources from refugee camps.

There are over 545 displaced peoples taking shelter at monasteries in Kyethi Township.

Two-day continuous fighting took place in Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State and locals were hearing the gun fire until yesterday morning.

“The war victims are now sheltering in Kyethi Township about three days. Mainly, there has been food difficulty. The victims are our nearby villagers living in Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State. Some villagers are fleeing to Mongtone Township,” said one of the members from Rescue Team.

Fighting between Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army and government troops took place between Kyethi and Mongkai Townships in Hsipaw Township, since the beginning of March 8th. Locals heard gun fires until yesterday morning and they fled to Kyethi Township.

There are seven refugee camps in Hsipaw Township comprising 480 households with 2,133 family members.
