About 30 patients are in the ICU in Yangon General Hospital (YGH) and one person is allowed to support each COVID-19 patient at the hospital.
“We have had a small number of healthcare staff before and allowed people to support the COVID-19 patients. Now we allow people to take care of COVID-19 suspect patients. We have an instruction from the MOHS that the person, who took care of the patient, is aged between 18 and 45, and a healthy person with no underlying chronic medical conditions. He or she needs to obey rules and regulations set by the hospital and sign an acknowledgement that they may be infected with the disease,” said Dr Myint Myint Aye, Medical Superintendent of the YGH.
