Opening of schools must go on as a trial basis and which method will succeed is not certain, says State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.

She said these words when holding a video conference with director-general of basic education  Ko Lay win, representative of the Myanmar Teachers’ federation Nilar Win and parents’ representative Kyaw Htay on May 19.

At the meeting, State Counselor and director-general of basic education desire to open primary school first but representative of the whole Myanmar Teachers’ federation Nilar Win and parents’ representative Kyaw Htay prefer high school students first.

“The nature of primary school children is that they can’t sit still in a place for a long time and they won’t listen to wear masks for a long time,” said Nilar Win.

The State Counsellor said she will think deeply about opening a high school first. She added that teachers must think of ways for children as a game for how children can abide by social distancing at class rooms. Educating must be done to parents and teachers as well, she added.

Central Committee for national level for control and prevention of COVID-19 previously issued a statement that basic education will be opened in July instead of normal school opening season in May.
