Yangon—One new confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported on 8 May, taking the total number of cases to 177, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
The new patient (Case-177) is a 84-year-old woman from Insein Township. The confirmed patient with no travel history has close contacts with Cases-151, 152, 153, 154 and 162.
On 8 May, a total of 582 samples were tested—256 by National Health Laboratory in Yangon, 93 by Medical Research Department and 233 by 1000-bed Military Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw.
Till 8 May, there have been six deaths.
So far, 43 out of 67 recovered patients have been discharged from the respective hospitals.
