Number of private filling stations reaches 2,576

There are now 2,576 private filling stations across Myanmar with up to 1,683 in Mandalay, Bago, Sagaing, Ayeyawady, Yangon and Magway regions. 

In nine months of 2019, nearly 190 private fuel stations were approved, bringing the total number to 2,576, according to the lists of private filling station licenses issued by the ministry of electricity and energy. 

Up to December 27, 2018 there were 2,389 fuel stations, and since then 187 more fuel stations received licenses. 

Those local private fuel stations that received licenses up to September 18 this year are 94 in the Union Territory, 183 in Yangon Region, 631 in Mandalay Region, 211 in Ayeyawady Region, 257 in Bago Region, 177 in Magway Region, 224 in Sagaing Region, 28 in Taninthayi Region, 110 in Kachin State, 18 in Kayah State, 50 in Kayin State, four in Chin State, 131 in Mon State, 38 in Rakhine State, 57 in eastern Shan State, 193 in northern Shan State and 170 in southern Shan State.  

Myanmar Oil Importers and Distributors Association announced on September 27 that a fine for failure to meet quality and prescribed measurement had been increased to K1 million. 

In 11 months this fiscal year, Myanmar imported over 4.9 million tons of fuel worth over US$2.9 billion, falling by over 480,000 tons worth over US$380 million compared to the same period of last fiscal year.
