Japanese communication giant NTT announced the start of investment in Myanmar to build US$400 million worth MIST subsea cable to link Myanmar with India and Singapore.
It announced the opening of its branch office in Yangon on January 22 and they will invest US$5 million in Myanmar to provide information and telecommunication services for businesses. They had been granted business-to-business wholesale license from the Ministry of Commerce.
The company invested US$400 million to build the MIST subsea cable and it is still under construction.
It is a part of strategic plan to build international subsea cable networks in Southeast Asian region by cooperating with Orient Link Pte. Ltd. to increase data speed and reduce latency.
