NSPNC, NCA signatories, and political parties’ working group discuss on general election

A tripartite meeting involving the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), representatives from NCA-signatory ethnic armed organizations (EAOs), and the political parties’ working group took place at the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre in Nay Pyi Taw on August 23 afternoon.

The meeting was chaired by NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, with participants including NSPNC members, representatives of NCA signatories, representatives from the political parties’ working group, officials, and others. 

Lt-Gen Min Naing, NSPNC Secretary, provided an overview of the agenda for the meeting. Discussions focused on election-related issues and prioritizing peace and stability to hold a successful election. Participants exchanged views on the necessity of cooperation in holding elections in ethnically armed regions.

Union Minister for Border Affairs and NSPNC Chair Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung led the meeting, which included U Khun Okka from the NCA-signatories, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chair Saw Mra Raza Lin, Saw Kyaw Than Htay, Head of Central Relations Department of the Democratic Kayin Benevolent Army (DKBA), Saw Maung Maung, Central Executive Committee member of the KNU/KNLA Peace Council, Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) Vice-Chairman Kyar Phu, New Mon State Party (NMSP) Central Executive Committee Member U Naing Aung Mange, and Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) Joint General Secretary 1 Khun Min Thein, and officials.

Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Saw Mra Raza Lin offered opening remarks. Lt-Gen Min Naing, NSPNC Secretary, then discussed the agenda of the meeting. They discussed humanitarian assistance and regional development. The session concluded with closing remarks by Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Saw Mra Raza Lin.
