The National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC) had a discussion with the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) about five points including fight against narcotic drugs and national-level political dialogue and two sides reached agreement together with six approved points.

Vice-Chairman Dr Tin Myo Win led the NRPC while Vice-Chairman Maj-Gen Baung Khe led the RCSS.

"Both sides focused on detained RCSS members and their families, national level political dialogue, regional development, fight against narcotic drugs and IDPs. These five points were discussed. The two sides frankly expressed difficulties and concerns. Finally attitudes were gathered," said Zaw Htay, Director-General of the Ministry of State Counsellor Office.

The acceptable attitudes resulting from the meeting were brought together and would be submitted to the leaders of both sides. The two sides would continue working together, said Zaw Htay.

"We re-scrutinize the matters of detained members of RCSS and their families. We will submit the findings to the meeting of the NRPC. Narcotic drugs are rapidly spreading across the country. Both sides express concern over it. Both sides discussed how to further cooperate," said Zaw Htay.

Reconciliation and understanding remain between the RCSS and Tatmadaw. The problems having with other ethnics will be dealt with by a process of meeting, said Colonel Sai Ngin, Secretary-2 of the RCSS.

"We would like to tell today's meeting managed to produce a good result. We have got six attitudes. JMC matter will be official soon and we are going to approach it step by step," said Colonel Sai Ngin.

The arrest and imprisonment of RCSS members and the plan to hold Shan national level political dialogue are difficult situations for NCA. Both sides have different views on the spread of narcotic drugs, said Maj-Gen Baung Khe, the representative of the RCSS.
