There is no plan to hold the by-election during this year, Aung Myint, a member of the Union Election Commission (UEC) told the media on May 17.

“There is no many vacant seats. The UEC will designate the date for the by-election only when relevant parliament speakers submit reports. The UEC has received some reports from relevant parliaments. Parliaments do not inform the UEC about it as the representation of voters in some constituencies continues to exist, and there is no significant impact on the functioning of relevant parliaments,” Aung Myint added.

Currently, the UEC is making necessary preparations for the 2020 General Election.
