No new Foreign Investment during April: DICA

There is no new foreign investment during the month of April according to the data issued by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).

In the investment sector of Myanmar, foreign investment of US$ 26535.122 million (US$ 26.535 billion) was allowed from the 2016-2017 Financial Year to March 2021. In April 2021, no new investments were made and the data remained the same according to DICA.

In March 2021, over US$ 590 million worth of foreign investment were made in the production sector, electricity sector, and service providing sectors.

In accordance with the special industrial zone law, more than US$ 7 million investment was made in March 2021.

MIC has permitted 15 new investment proposals including US$ 2.5 billion worth of power generating project at the MIC’s 3/2021 meeting held on May 7. The meeting approved fifteen new projects for electricity generation, livestock, manufacturing and other services sectors.

Foreign investments were made in 11 economic sectors of Myanmar such as production, transportation, communication, real estate, electricity, hotels and tourism, livestock and fishery, industrial sector, oil and gas sector, agricultural sector, mining and service providing sector. Foreign investments were made in other six economic sectors in Thilawa special industrial zone.

From 1988-1989 to April 2021 FY within a 33 years period, US $ 88 billion worth of investment were made according to data issued by DICA.
