NLD village organizer snatched by unidentified armed group in Sagaing

HOMALIN-------An unidentified armed group had captured Lwin Maung Htay, a village-organizer of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) in Shwedwin village, Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, at night of January 13th, says MP Kyaw Htay Lwin from Homalin Township.

The Shwedwin village is situated between Homalin Township in Sagaing Region and Kachin State and it has a police station.

 “We didn’t know completely. But, an armed group arrested Lwin Maung Htay on January 13th. We asked his wife about the arrest. But, she didn’t answer due to the security of her husband. The armed group only arrested Lwin Maung Htay,” said MP Kyaw Htay Lwin.

It was the second arrest of the armed group in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region. Firstly, one of the members of ruling NLD in Naungkhae village in Homalin Township also was arrested by an armed group and the NLD member can’t be freed now.

The news already spread out saying that the armed group which captured the NLD’s village organizer Lwin Maung Htay may be Shanni Army.
