The National League for Democracy will form environmental conservation committees in 13 regions and states, said Nyan Win, secretariat member of the NLD's central executive committee.

Decision to form the committees came after a CEC meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw on March 16.

"As far as I know, committees will be formed 13 out of the 14 regions and state," said Nyan Win.

He didn't reveal one region or state that was excluded in the committee formation. He also did not provide details about the reason for forming such committees.

NLD CEC member and Mandalay Region NLD chairman Tin Htut Oo said environmental conservation committees had been formed in seven regions and states and others are being asked to form them.

"We will take measures for environmental protection and preparedness. Our party will do its best for that," said Tin Htut Oo.

The Central Committee for Environmental Conservation was established with 11 members on September 19, 2108.
