On September 11, new rainfall records were set in seven towns, according to a statement from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
The towns that recorded new rainfall records are Thazi, Yamethin, Pinlaung, Hpa-An, Loilin, Taunggyi, and Tatkon.
According to meteorological records, the new rainfall records were the highest in 51 years in Thazi, 60 years in Yamethin, 58 years in Pinlaung, 41 years in Hpa-An, 58 years in Loilin, 74 years in Taunggyi, and 41 years in Tatkon.
During the first ten days of September, the rainfall conditions in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, eastern Bago Region, Yangon Region, northern Shan State, and Mon State were around the average levels for this period. However, in southern Bago Region, Ayeyawady Region, Taninthayi Region, eastern and southern Shan State, Kayah State, and Kayin State, rainfall was above the average for the first ten days of September. In contrast, in upper Sagaing Region, western Bago Region, Kachin State, Chin State, and Rakhine State, rainfall was below average for the same period.
The department also forecasted that in the second week of September, rainfall could exceed normal levels in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, western Bago Region, Shan State, and Kayah State. Additionally, the department predicted that there could be scattered heavy rains in Sagaing Region, eastern Bago Region, Yangon Region, Ayeyawady Region, Taninthayi Region, Kachin State, Chin State, Rakhine State, Kayin State, and Mon State.
