NCA implementation negotiation team meeting postponed to February

NCA-S EAO’s Framework Agreement on NCA Implementation Negotiation Team Meeting, which is scheduled for 28 January will be postponed to early February, representatives from the two sides confirmed.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC) in Yangon on 28-29 January. Both sides agreed to postpone it to 2-3 February.

U Hla Maung Shwe, a delegate from the government said: “Both sides agree to postpone the meeting as all have tight schedules.”

Colonel Sai Ngin, a leader of NCA-S EAO’s Framework Agreement on NCA Implementation Negotiation Team said: “On the EAOs side, the preparation works go unfinished, and leaders are busy. Both sides postpone the meeting after negotiation.”

The delegates from both sides said the eight-point agreement reached at the JICM and the topics on Union Peace Conference will be discussed at the upcoming meeting scheduled for 2-3 February.

“As far as I know, the government has proposal. The EAOs also have prepared the proposal for more than one year. We will officially discuss two proposals,” Colonel Sai Ngin added.

A plan is under way to discuss the Political Dialogue Framework at the upcoming meeting. After that meeting, the meeting on the review of the Political Dialogue Framework will be held. Non-NCA signatories will be invited to that meeting.
