The meeting between the National Unity and Peace Coordination Committee and a working group of political parties was held at 9 am on January 20 at the meeting hall of National Reconciliation and Peace Center in Nay Pyi Taw, according to the Ministry of Information.
At the meeting, Chairman of the National Unity and Peace Coordination Committee, Union Minister for Union Government Office (1) Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and U Sai Aik Paung, leader of the working group of political parties addressed the gathering.
Then, the two sides discussed the framework for political dialogue and the peace process to be negotiated by the government, parliament and military bloc in 2020.
After that, U Sai Aik Paung, Chairman of the Working Group of the Political Parties Group and Chairman of the National Unity and Peace Coordination Committee Lt-Gen Yar Pyae closed the meeting with concluding remarks.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the National Unity and Peace Coordination Committee Lt-Gen. Yar Pyae and its members, U Sai Aik Paung, chairman of the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party and representatives of the working group attended the meeting.
On October 9, 2021, the committee invited some political parties to Nay Pyi Taw to discuss the peace process and the electoral system.
