According to a report by Opensignal, recently launched telecom operator Mytel has trumped over its competitors in some categories despite its relatively short time entering Myanmar's fledgling mobile broadband market.

Opensignal is an independent organization that set standards, analyze and report mobile consumber experience in countries around the globe. The four telecoms currently operating in Myanmar are Mytel, Oredoo, Telenor and MPT.

The national report on Myanmar claims that, after tests and collection of data as of May 2019, Mytel had come in first place in two categories, tying with Oredoo for another. Those categories are 4G availability, Video Experience and Download Speed Experience.

In terms of 4G network aviailability, Mytel came in at 92.9% reach, followed by Oredoo at 82.3, MPT with 79.3 and coming in last place in Telenor with 78.6%.

Video Experience, which quantifies the quality of mobile video experienced on real-world video streams, netted Mytel 68.6, Oredoo 63, Telenor 61.1 and MPT 60.8 points. It should be noted that by Opensignal definition of their metrics, only Mytel comes under the 65-75 points category of "very good".

For download speed, both Mytel and Oredoo clocked in around 19 Mbps while Telenor and MPT lags behind by 4-5 Mbps. For Upload, Oredoo was ranked first with 8.3 Mbps, MPT 7.1 Mbps, Mytel at 7 Mbps and Telenor with 5.2 Mbps.

In terms of latency delay (lower is better), Telenor pulls ahead a fair bit further than the rest with only 50.2 ms, followed by Mytel at 81.1 ms, MPT with 86.2 ms and finally Oredoo with 90.4 ms.

It should be noted that by the scores of Myanmar's four telcos measured against international standards did not produce a good result with Opensignal highlighting that even Telenor's 50.2 ms is not "an impressive latency score in other markets."
